LAO PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC

NATIONAL ROUND TABLE PROCESS

Development Cooperation Exhibition

Ex1

An exhibition showcasing development cooperation action between the Government of Lao PDR and its partners was opened to the public at the International Cooperation and Training Centre (ICTC) in Vientiane on 26th of November 2015.

H.E. Somdy Douangdy, Minister of Planning and Investment and H.E. Haoliang Xu, UN Assistant Secretary-General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, officially opened the exhibition. Mr Xu is in Lao PDR to attend the 12th High Level Round Table Meeting on 27th of November.

In the run up to the High-Level Round Table Meeting, the exhibition aims to show how joint work between the Government and its development partners has brought about results in all development sectors; including health, education, macroeconomics, infrastructure, natural resources and the environment, agriculture and rural development, controlling illicit drugs, governance, trade and the private sector, and in ridding the country of deadly unexploded ordnance.

Each Sector Working Group under the Lao PDR’s National Round Table Process leads the coordination of actions in their respective areas that are called for in the National Socio-Economic Development Plan and the Millennium Development Goals. They bring the government, donors, civil society organisations and others together to coordinate their actions and bring about better overall results.

The exhibition will also include booths on the Sustainable Development Goals and Development Cooperation in Lao PDR, as well as stands from major Lao businesses.

The Exhibition is open to the public on the 26th of November until 4:30pm. On the 27th of November it will only be accessible to delegates of the 12th High Level Round Table Meeting.
